    Bob's South African Speciality Sausages - Recipes

    Boerewors Recipes

    Boerewors with Tomato Relish

    Ingredients:

      1 tablespoon oil
      1 packet boerewors
      2 medium sized onions, finely chopped
      1 medium sized green pepper, cut into cubes
      1 tin (410g) tomato
      1 tin (310g) tomato paste
      250ml vegetable stock
      1 teaspoon garlic, crushed
      2 tablespoons chutney

    Method:

    Heat the oil in a pan.
    Fry the boerewors in the pan until cooked.
    Cut the boerewors into 15cm pieces
    Place the boerewors in a serving dish.
    Fry the onions in the same pan until soft.
    Add the green peppers and fry for 5 minutes.
    Add the rest off the ingredients and simmer for 40 minutes.
    Spoon the sauce over the boerewors.
    Delicious with couscous, crumbly mealie meal porridge or a bread roll.

    Boerewors Rolls

    Ingredients

    1 packet boerewors
    ready made puff pastry.
    2 eggs, beaten


    Method:

    Preheat the oven to 220° C.
    Fry the boerewors in a pan until cooked.
    Cut the boerewors into 15cm pieces.
    Cut the puff pastry into equal lengths (the same length as the boerewors).
    Place the boerewors in the pastry piece and roll it in the pastry. Use the back edge of a fork to press the loose edge of the pastry together. The ends of the boerewors are therefore open.
    Use a brush to paint the pastry with the beaten eggs.
    Bake in the oven at 220° C for 15 to 20 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
    Delicious with a Greek salad.
